Im looking at purchasing my buddy's TR7 but the engine will either need a total tear down or be replaced. im curious to what american engines will fit into the bay.

One popular swap back in the eighties was the small block Ford. The TR8 had the old aluminum GM V8 from the sixties as the standard engine. Advance adapters used to make a kit for conversion of the TR7-8 to SB Ford. Maybe you can dig one up.

A GM 60-degree V6 (the 2.8-3.4 for the Camaro and S10) should fit. In fact, I'd be shocked if someone has not already done this.
