The Great Escape is on yet again and I know it is based on a true story and got me thinking do the Germans have similar films where their soldiers make heroic escapes or valiantly defeat the enemy against all the odds!
Not trying to cause a kerfuffle at Christmas just interested!
Do the Germans have War films where they triumph over the Brits as in our films we always defeat the Germans?antivirus downloads
There was a film made (in English) about a German who escaped from a prisonor of war camp.
The film was based on a true story and the German pretended to be a Polish pilot and stole a training aircraft from the RAF. The aircraft was stolen from Kingstown Aerodrome near Carlisle.
There is mention of it at the Museum at Crosby on Eden Airfield near Carlisle
Thanks Shierka it was ''The One That Got Away''

war is told by the winners, not the losers. We have to remember we won the war, not all the battles. If they want to make films about battles they won or fictional battles which they won fine, they should be able to if we want to
No. In case you missed the result - the Germans lost the war.
As someone else said, A Bridge Too Far sees us get beaten by the Germans at Arnhem. The Great Escape isn't exactly a victory either. Only 3 get away, most are shot and the rest are captured. A great film though.
